Ameriflo FM Pump Approvals

Ameriflo FM Pump Approvals

After months of intensive product development and an extremely stringent testing schedule, Ameriflo is proud to announce it’s Factory Mutual (FM) Approval of the 5010 ES End Suction, 5030 SC Split Case and 5040 VT Vertical Turbine product lines.  This Factory Mutual approval covers the largest North American fire protection hydraulic offering currently available in the market today.

This newest FM Approval couples with the current UL Listings that are already in place for the product line.  These two certifications give Ameriflo a complete third party certified program legitimizing the entire fire protection product line.  As the majority of the product development has been completed, future engineering effort will be spent tweaking speeds and/or minor gaps that may come up on certain applications.  This current hydraulic offering will be a huge market disruption as the coverage also includes the lowest documented horsepowers present in this very competitive, fire protection industry.

Tier 3 Diesel Driven Split Case Pumps

Tier 3 Diesel Driven Split Case Pumps

Ameriflo has the largest hydraulic coverage available from a split case in the fire protection industry, period.  Pictured here are a couple of 8×10-18 SC split case pumps rated for 3000 GPM @ 140 PSI.  Both units are driven by a Tier 3, Cummins CFP9E-F40 Diesel engine.  The units will provide fire protection for an oil refinery in the central part of the United States.  These assemblies also feature Ameriflo’s heavily engineered fabricated bases with jackscrew bolts for base leveling and final field alignment..

The SC product line was designed with minimum horsepower as the primary focus and as such, the Ameriflo SC product line has the lowest documented horsepowers available in the fire protection market today!!  Ductile iron casings with investment cast 304 stainless steel impellers are also standard construction which is a significant upgrade over nearly every other current manufacturer who uses class 30 cast iron with bronze impellers.

5040 Vertical Turbine - Diesel Engine

Fabricated Base Assemblies

Engineered Base Assemblies

The Ameriflo fabricated base assemblies are some of the best available in the industry.  Most of the features and benefits found in these bases are usually found only in bases offered to the API industry.  These bases are made of heavy wall structural steel with very high torsional rigidity designed to minimize deflection and keep items mounted in place.

All engineered bases feature milled and drilled pads under both the pump and the driver.  These mounting areas ensure that soft foot problems during installation simply are not an issue.  Two (2) grounding lugs are present on both short sides of the base making it very easy to ground the entire base assembly increasing safety.  Base lifting lugs are installed at each corner of the base allowing for safe lifting and movement of the entire base assembly.  These corner lifting lugs stop severe damage that can occur when the lugs on the pump and driver are used to lift the weight of the entire base assembly that are much higher than these were ever intended on supporting.  Base leveling jackscrews are installed along the long side of the base making leveling of the entire base assembly very easy and trouble free.  These base leveling jackscrews allow for fine tuning of the leveling process that simply cannot be accomplished by using traditional shims.

To aid in the alignment of the pump assembly alignment jackscrews are provided on the driver (when driven by an electric motor) or under the pump (when driven by a Diesel engine).  This very simple addition to the base makes field alignment very easy & straightforward and allows for fine tuning of the alignment process that is very useful when performing very precise alignments especially when using laser alignment products.

All base assemblies have capped ends greatly increasing torsional rigidity.  Nearly every other manufacturer standardizes on bent channel bases without capped ends.  These bases are prone to severe deflection during transport making filed installation more time consuming and very difficult.  The Ameriflo I-beam base construction is far superior to these other bent channel designs.

Indonesian Fire Pumps

Indonesian Fire Pumps

The two pumps featured in this short Blog include an electric motor and Diesel engine driven split case pump.  These two medium 6×8-17 SC split case pumps produce 1250 GPM @ 20.5 Bar, an incredible amount of pressure generated from a single stage split case pump.  Ameriflo has the most efficient and expansive split case product offered in the fire protection market today, period.  The 5030 SC product line has many standard features and benefits that are simply not offered even as options by nearly every other manufacturer.  The electric motor version features a WEG driver and the Diesel engine version features an Ameriflo AF6-108E 6 cylinder Diesel engine.  These are heavily designed skid assemblies featuring alignment and base leveling jack screws that make field installation a breeze.  Milled pads under the pump and driver only add to the overall package.

Ameriflo Diesel engines have features that the other Diesel engine manufactures simply do not have.  The Diesel engine cradle is a unique and specifiable feature that virtually eliminates all Diesel engine vibration that was historically transferred to the pump and system piping.  The Ameriflo Vibration Isolation Cradle (VIC) has integral engine mounts that completely isolate the Diesel engine vibration from being transferred to the pump base assembly.  This is a unique and specifiable feature that no other Diesel engine manufacturer has.  This VIC greatly reduces oscillations found from other Diesel engine manufacturers and allows all Ameriflo pump assemblies to operate with minimal vibration.  The VIC also houses the emergency contactors, the complete cooling loop package, the heat exchanger assembly and the pre-heater equipment.

The Ameritouch digital engine controller has no “old school” gauges present anywhere on the package.  Not only are these gauges inherently less accurate but are more difficult to read and prone to failure.  The end user is presented with a fully digital, color touch screen interface that is state of the art!  All Diesel engine parameters can be monitored from this digital interface making startup and run tests very easy.  Ameriflo leverages technology to be the leader in the fire protection market.

The Diesel engine program is one of the largest in the industry with more than 30 sizes available and carry UL Listings & FM Approvals.

Electric Split Case Assemblies

SC Split Case Assemblies

As Ameriflo continues to grow, more and more split case pumps make their way through assembly and onto shipping.  The 5030 SC pumps shown here also were taken from the Ameriflo Express inventory program allowing for very short lead-times when needed.  There are a variety of sizes shown here shipping to customers in several different states.

The feedback Ameriflo has gotten on the 5030 SC product line has been amazing.  Clients all over the world have commented on the clean design, stainless steel components, unpainted acorn nuts and next level base assemblies.  This feedback is great to hear considering that Ameriflo used customer input for the base product line design.

The 5030 SC product line features a double volute design that significantly decreases radial loads generated by the rotating assembly.  This reduction in radial force allows the rotor group to use a smaller bearing housing assembly.  This also means that the inboard and outboard bearing housing assemblies use the same bearing.  In competitor designs, manufacturers use a double row outboard bearing not because of a heavier duty design but because a single row bearing will not withstand radial and axial forces generated by the rotating assembly.  The shaft designs in these models are smaller and larger, double row bearing are needed to meet bearing life requirements.  Ameriflo designs the shaft and bearing with durability at the foremost of design requirements.

Future articles will also focus on the design features of the Ameriflo fabricated steel bases.  These bases have several proprietary features and benefits that aid real world installers and streamline the field installation process.

Ameriflo Tier 0 FM Approval

Ameriflo FM Diesel Engine Approval

After over a year of intensive product development and an extremely stringent testing schedule, Ameriflo is proud to announce it’s Factory Mutual (FM) approval of the 9050 Diesel Engine program.  This Factory Mutual approval covers the first 15 Ameriflo Diesel engines from 121 HP through an incredible 1207 horsepower.  Speed ranges from 2950 RPM down through 1460 RPM.  An additional 12 Diesel engines are going through final FM testing to have a total of 24 Diesel engines with Factory Mutual approval.

The Ameriflo Diesel engine is the most diverse and efficient Diesel engine product line available today.  The Diesel engine group has spent considerable time developing blocks with a horsepower range that is simply not available from the competition.  Ameriflo already has nearly 30 Diesel engines that are UL Listed and the FM approval adds to the heritage of this product line.

Ameriflo Diesel engines have features that the other Diesel engine manufactures simply do not have.  The Diesel engine cradle is a unique and specifiable feature by virtually eliminating Diesel engine vibration that was historically transferred to the pump and system piping.  The Diesel engine cradle also houses the emergency contractors, complete cooling loop and the Diesel engine pre-heater.  The Ameriflo Vibration Isolation Cradle (VIC) has integral engine mounts that completely isolate the Diesel engine vibration from being transferred to the pump base assembly,  This is a feature that no other Diesel engine manufacturer has.  This VIC greatly reduces oscillations found from other Diesel engine manufacturers and allows all Ameriflo pump assemblies to operate vibration free.

The Ameritouch digital engine controller has no “old school” gauges present.  The end user is presented with a fully digital, touch screen interface that is state of the art!  All Diesel engine parameters can be monitored from this digital interface making startup and run tests very easy.  This is yet another example of how Ameriflo is leveraging technology to be the leader in the fire protection market.

3D Printed SC Pumps

3D Printed SC Pumps

One of the largest differences between Ameriflo and the other guys, besides the largest hydraulic fire protection offering in the industry, is the technology that they use to develop product and marketing materials.  Being able to create rapid prototypes for new designs, as well as creating simply the coolest looking marketing samples, is an asset that is core to Ameriflo’s philosophy.  Ameriflo designed all models in 3D modeling software so generating these highly detailed samples is a very easy process.

The 3D models that Ameriflo uses in engineering, during training events or at trade shows allows for an incredibly easy and lightweight manner to show off the state-of-the-art products currently offered by Ameriflo.  These pumps are printed to scale (1:4) and allow for a very easy way to show off all of the standard feature and benefits that Ameriflo has worked so hard to create.  As an example, these highly detailed samples show all of the acorn nuts, jackscrew and alignment pins as well as the complete flush plan system.  Very clean and super cool……..

Future blogs will detail the other 3D printed product lines.  As Ameriflo begins studio work on the actual marketing cutaways as well as these 3D printed pumps, more detail and coverage of these very important product samples will be available in a variety of media content.
